This award winning building showcases the value in proactive management and an integrated handover process.
Sitting in a prominent position near Auckland’s Viaduct Basin, NZI House is a showpiece for sustainable design principles and operation. We developed the building services concept for the project, which included then-innovative features such as underfloor air distribution for the office floors, and a high-spec double skin façade. Throughout the remainder of the design, we acted as ESD consultants, including submitting the building’s 5-Star Green Star design rating. The NZI Centre is the first commercial building in New Zealand to receive 5 Star Green Star NZ – Interiors 2009 Pilot rating which represents ‘NZ Excellence’.
Our role also included acting as the independent commissioning agent throughout the extended handover process, facilitating the transfer of the building from the contractors to the management staff. This included a year-long fine tuning process with the contractors and other design consultants.
NZI House was one of the first buildings in New Zealand to receive a NABERSNZ rating (outside the pilot projects). Our involvement in this building still continues through further energy and operational improvements, aimed at improving these ongoing NABERSNZ ratings.
