eCubed LIGHT
Specialist Lighting Design

In addition to all eCubed offer with respect to Building Services and ESD, we have considerable experience in and passion for Specialist Lighting Design: eCubed LIGHT.

Design

  • We use the latest independent lighting software in our designs, and have a large database of products and technical information available in our library.

  • Our experience has shown that for specific exterior lighting situations, lighting software cannot be fully relied upon - we are strong advocates for prototype tests.

  • Our design work is creative, practical and trustworthy. We operate as independent designers with no associations with lighting suppliers.

Environment

  • Our designs consider the environment, the impact on sky glow, and sustainability.

  • Our designs optimise energy use wherever possible.

  • As a priority, we specify New Zealand Made products wherever possible.

  • We have considerable experience in the selection of lighting that is robust enough for marine environments. In a marine environment, overseas luminaires generally provide a more durable product.

  • We understand the sensitive requirements for heritage buildings.

  • We are fully conversant with all the New Zealand and Australian Lighting Standards and CPTED philosophies.

Education

  • Our knowledge of lighting is substantial, and continually grows.
We were the Lighting Specialist for the ‘Right Light‘ TV and Media Education Campaign for EECA and the Electricity Commission.

  • We are continually involved in lighting education for tertiary students in the Landscape and Architectural fields.

Experience

  • Our experience speaks for itself. We have been involved in numerous lighting design solutions, both locally and internationally, and have successfully delivered award-winning designs in a wide variety of contexts - especially in the public realm.

  • We have been expert witnesses on behalf of many local council and government bodies.

  • We understand the code and by-law requirements for spatial, pedestrian and amenity lighting design, and have good working relationships with all Council lighting engineers.

eCubed LIGHT

At eCubed LIGHT, all of our work relates closely to the needs and aspirations of yourselves, our client. These aspirations are explored by listening, talking and then tailoring our advice and designs accordingly.

eCubed will always provide —

  • A unique and innovative lighting environment.

  • Flexible, stunning, cost effective solutions.

  • Characterful design solutions which reflect the aesthetic of the environment and the excitement of its users.

  • Associated and controllable inside / outside space and sensitivity to the public realm, suited to the client’s expectations and needs.

  • Going the extra mile: state-of-the-art options and cost effective solutions.

If everything comes together, an award-winning design is often the outcome for eCubed LIGHT projects.

eCubed’s people, culture and high-end design skills in Specialist Lighting Design make us ideally suited to achieving great outcomes, often with limited budgets.
Our principal designers are hands-on and delight in achieving great results. We aim to work on a small number of significant and interesting projects rather than a catch-all market approach.
